Sweet and Tangy Barbecue Sauce

This Sweet and Tangy Barbecue Sauce mixes fresh apricot puree with a blend of ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, honey, mustard, and spices to achieve a thick, flavorful sauce. The combination creates a balance of sweetness, acidity, and smoky warmth, ideal for glazing grilled or roasted meats.

Description

The Sweet and Tangy Barbecue Sauce starts with apricots that are pureed with water and apple cider vinegar, giving the sauce a fresh fruit base with a slight acidity. Straining this puree ensures a smooth texture. Ketchup provides a familiar tomato richness, while molasses, brown sugar, and honey contribute layers of sweet and deep caramel tones. Mustard powder, onion and garlic powders, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne add complexity and a gentle heat, creating a well-rounded flavor profile.

Simmering the sauce thickens it, concentrating the flavors and enabling it to coat meats evenly. This sauce suits a variety of barbecue dishes, providing a distinctive sweet and tangy glaze or dipping option.
