Sweet Chili Garlic Glazed Salmon
Description
This salmon recipe begins by marinating the fillets in a sweet and savory blend including sweet chili sauce, orange marmalade, soy sauce, minced garlic, and green onions. A quarter cup of this marinade is reserved for finishing. The fish is seasoned with salt and pepper before soaking in the marinade for at least one hour, allowing the flavors to penetrate.
Broiling the salmon skin-side down on a foil-lined baking sheet with cooking spray caramelizes the surface within 6 to 10 minutes. The timing depends on size and broiler strength, aiming for a browned, opaque center indicating doneness.
Before serving, the reserved sauce is drizzled over the salmon and more green onions sprinkled as garnish, adding fresh notes. This dish delivers a balance of sweet, tangy, and umami flavors with a tender flaky texture.
Marinating time is important for flavor absorption. Avoid pooling marinade on the baking sheet to prevent steaming instead of broiling. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor contrast.
Ingredients
- 4 (6-ounce) salmon 24 total ounces, filets
- ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
- 1 ½ tablespoons orange marmalade
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons green onion minced
- 1 teaspoon garlic about 1 clove, minced
- salt
- black pepper
Instructions
- In a shallow baking dish, mix the ¼ cup sweet chili sauce, 1 ½ tablespoons orange marmalade, and 3 tablespoons soy sauce. Add the 1 teaspoon minced garlic, and 2 tablespoons minced green onion. Remove 1/4 cup of the marinade and set aside.
- Sprinkle the 4 (6-ounce) salmon filets, with salt and pepper, place the filets facing down with the skin side up in the dish, and marinate for at least one hour.
- Preheat the broiler and make sure the oven rack is 5-6 inches down. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, and spray with cooking spray.
- Take the salmon out of the pan and shake off excess marinade. You don't want the marinade to pool up on the foil. Place the salmon fillets skin side down on top of the aluminum foil and broil for 6-10 minutes until browned and opaque in the center.
- Pour the reserved sauce on top of the salmon before serving and garnish with additional green onions.
