Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe
Description
This Sweet Potato Casserole starts by boiling cubed sweet potatoes until tender, then mashing them and mixing with sugar, beaten eggs, salt, softened butter, milk, and vanilla extract. This creates a smooth, sweet, and moist filling. The mixture is poured into a greased baking dish as the base layer.
A topping made from brown sugar and flour cut into softened butter forms a coarse crumb that’s combined with chopped pecans, adding both sweetness and texture. Sprinkled over the sweet potato mixture, it becomes golden and slightly crisp after baking.
The casserole bakes at a moderate temperature until the topping is lightly brown, offering a blend of creamy and crunchy textures with warm, sweet flavors of sweet potato and pecan. It pairs well with various main dishes and is a classic accompaniment for traditional meals.
