Sweet Potato Hummus

Sweet Potato Hummus blends tender steamed sweet potatoes with tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and spices into a smooth and creamy dip. It delivers a mild sweetness balanced by cumin and optional cayenne, finished with a drizzle of olive oil and paprika. Perfect for dipping veggies or pita, it’s a flavorful alternative to classic hummus.

Description

This Sweet Potato Hummus starts with steaming cubed sweet potatoes until tender, then blending them with tahini, lemon juice, salt, garlic, cumin, and optionally cayenne pepper. The result is a creamy, smooth dip that combines the natural sweetness of sweet potato with the nutty tahini and bright citrus.

The spices add depth and a gentle warmth without overpowering the sweetness. A drizzle of olive oil and dusting of paprika on top enhances the visual appeal and adds extra richness and mild smoky notes. The texture is soft and creamy, easy to scoop with pita chips or vegetables.

It can be served as an appetizer or snack and stored refrigerated for nearly a week. This variation offers a mild, colorful option beyond traditional chickpea hummus, ideal for those interested in different vegetable-based dips.
