Taco Burgers
Description
These Taco Burgers enhance ground beef with an array of spices including chili powder, garlic and onion powders, cumin, cayenne, and ground coriander, resulting in a richly seasoned patty. The hot sauce added to the tops before chilling firms the patties for grilling. Grilling over direct heat sears the burgers, then transferring to indirect heat cooks evenly. Pepper jack cheese melts atop in the final minute, adding a creamy spicy layer.
The burgers build on Kaiser rolls with fresh slices of avocado, tangy pico de gallo, sour cream for cooling effect, and pickled jalapeños for an extra kick. The combination balances smoky, spicy, and fresh flavors along with varied textures from creamy to crisp.
These burgers are suitable for casual meals, backyard barbecues, or flavorful sandwiches illustrating a fusion of taco seasoning and classic burger form.
Pre-made taco seasoning can be substituted for the homemade spice blend if preferred.

- 1 teaspoon black pepper

- Heat grill to medium-high heat. Grill hamburger patties for 2-3 minutes per side on direct heat, then remove to indirect heat until desired doneness. For the last minute, add a slice pepper jack cheese to each patty.
- Remove from grill and allow to rest for 3-4 minutes before assembling.
- To build your massive Taco Burger, place patty on Kaiser Roll, top with pico de gallo, avocado, sour cream and jalapenos.

Notes
- Pre-made taco seasoning may be used as an alternative to the homemade spice blend.
- Chilling patties after seasoning and shaping helps them hold together better during grilling.
- Apply hot sauce on top of patties before chilling for additional flavor and moisture.
