Taco Pizza

Report
Taco Pizza features a pizza dough crust topped with refried beans, seasoned ground beef, shredded Colby-Jack cheese, diced tomatoes, black olives, and sliced green onions. Baked until golden, this pizza offers a fusion of Mexican-inspired flavors and traditional pizza textures with a hearty, cheesy base and fresh toppings added after baking.

Description

The Taco Pizza recipe starts with a pizza dough crust stretched on a large baking sheet or pan. Refried beans are warmed and spread over the crust for a creamy base layer followed by cooked ground beef seasoned with taco spices. A generous amount of shredded Colby-Jack cheese is sprinkled on top, followed by diced Roma tomatoes and sliced black olives. The pizza bakes at 450°F until the crust is golden brown and the cheese melts, creating a flavorful, cheesy surface. After baking, sliced green onions are scattered on top for freshness and mild onion flavor.

Serving this pizza sliced into squares offers a casual meal combining elements of tacos and pizza. It pairs well with typical taco accompaniments like salsa and sour cream. Leftovers keep stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days. This recipe yields one large pizza serving 4 to 6 people.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef lean
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning mix
  • 1 large pizza dough crust (use my homemade pizza dough recipe here)
  • 1 can (16 ounces) refried beans
  • 3 cups Colby-Jack cheese shredded
  • 2 Roma tomato diced
  • 1/4 cup black olive sliced
  • 2 to 3 green onions sliced

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 450 degrees F. Brown ground beef in a large skillet, over medium-high heat. Drain grease. Add taco seasoning to the ground beef according to package directions.
  2. Meanwhile, place pizza dough on a large (12x17-inch) greased baking sheet or pizza pan. Let dough sit at room temperature for 5 minutes. Press and stretch dough out to fit the pan.
  3. Place refried beans into a microwavable-safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute. Stir well and then spread beans evenly over the top of pizza crust. Top beans evenly with the cooked ground beef mixture, sprinkle with cheese and then add the tomatoes, and black olives.
  4. Bake pizza for 16 to 18 minutes, or until crust is golden-brown. Remove pizza from oven and let stand 5 minutes to cool slightly. Sprinkle green onion all over the top. Cut into squares and serve with salsa, sour cream, etc. Enjoy!
  5. Store any leftovers in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Notes

  • This recipe yields one large pizza, serving 4 to 6 people.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days to keep freshness.
  • Consider serving with salsa and sour cream to complement the taco flavors.
