Taco Seasoning
Description
The Taco Seasoning recipe combines several ground spices—chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper—to create a robust seasoning blend. The proportions provide heat from chili powder and warmth from cumin and smoked paprika, with aromatic notes from garlic and onion powders.
This mix is intended to be used as a versatile seasoning for taco fillings such as ground meat, poultry, or vegetables. It can be prepared in advance and stored sealed in a jar for up to six months in a pantry, making it convenient to have ready when cooking Mexican-style dishes.
Doubling or more is suggested for convenience and regular use. The dry blend allows for controlled seasoning levels and eliminates the need for artificial preservatives commonly found in commercial mixes.
