Taco Seasoning

This homemade taco seasoning blend combines spices like chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic and onion powders, oregano, and pepper for a balanced, savory flavor. Designed to replace store-bought packets, the mix provides an easy way to season taco meat or other dishes without additives. It is versatile and can be adjusted for heat by adding crushed red pepper flakes.

Description

Made by mixing chili powder, garlic and onion powders, cayenne pepper, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, black pepper, and optionally crushed red pepper flakes, this taco seasoning offers equal parts warmth, earthiness, and mild heat. Using two tablespoons of the blend corresponds to the seasoning in a typical commercial taco packet, making it convenient for straightforward meat seasoning.

Storing the blend in an airtight container in a cool, dry place preserves its potency for up to six months. With no preservatives or fillers, the freshness of the individual spices shines through, allowing cooks to tweak the blend to personal preferences for heat and aroma.

Applying this seasoning to ground meat, poultry, or vegetables infuses familiar southwestern flavor profiles, ideal for taco night or Mexican-style dishes.
