Taco Sloppy Joes

Taco Sloppy Joes combine seasoned lean ground beef with onions, garlic, and a packet of taco seasoning enhanced by chunky salsa for a flavorful, saucy filling. The mixture simmers to a thick consistency before serving on hamburger buns. Optional toppings like shredded cheese, lettuce, diced tomato, avocado, or sour cream add freshness and creaminess, creating a handheld meal with typical Tex-Mex flavors.

Description

This recipe adapts the classic sloppy joe with taco seasoning, combining ground lean beef with sautéed onion and garlic. The addition of salsa introduces a chunky, tomato-based sauce with Tex-Mex flavor. Simmering the mixture over medium low heat allows the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken, with water added for desired consistency.

Served on hamburger buns, it can be topped with various additions like Mexican blend cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado, or sour cream, creating a rich and layered sandwich experience blending traditional sloppy joe comfort with taco ingredients.

Cooking lean beef and draining excess grease helps reduce fat content. The flavor and texture result in a hearty yet manageable sandwich filling suitable for casual lunches or dinners.
