Tahini Sauce
Description
Tahini Sauce features tahini paste blended with fresh lemon juice, water, grated garlic, and sea salt to create a smooth, creamy sauce with a distinct sesame flavor. The natural bitterness of tahini can be softened by adding a small amount of maple syrup or honey, while extra-virgin olive oil rounds out the sharpness and adds richness.
The water amount is adjustable to achieve the desired consistency, making it appropriate for drizzling over salads, dipping, or mixing into dressings and spreads. Garlic infused into the sauce lends a gentle pungency that complements the tanginess of the lemon.
This sauce is a flexible addition to many meals, enhancing Mediterranean dishes, roasted vegetables, or grilled meats. Its balance between nutty, tangy, and slightly sweet allows it to bridge flavors without overwhelming other ingredients.
Ingredients
Basic Tahini Sauce
- ½ cup tahini
- ¼ cup lemon juice fresh
- 6 tablespoons water plus more as needed
- 1 garlic grated or pressed, small clove
- ½ teaspoon salt sea salt
- maple syrup as needed, or honey

- Add up to 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil if the sauce is too sharp, to smooth the taste.
- Adjust water to reach consistency suitable for drizzling or dipping.
