Tangy, sweet, creamy and delicious, this is the tartar sauce you'll want for everything from fish sticks to crab cakes and so many other seafood favorites.

Ingredients
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons dill relish can use sweet relish or substitute chopped dill pickles, sweet pickles or bread and butter pickles.
- ¼ teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon capers chopped
- 1 tablespoon onion use a box grater or microplane, grated
- 1 tablespoon dill chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill, fresh
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt or 1/3 teaspoon Morton's, Diamond Crystal brand
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- few dashes hot sauce
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, relish (or chopped pickles), lemon zest, lemon juice, dijon mustard, capers, grated onion, dill, salt and pepper and whisk to combine.
- Add a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce (optional) and whisk. Taste for seasonings and adjust as necessary -- adding more hot sauce if needed. Serve.
Notes
- One serving is about 2 heaping tablespoons.
