Teriyaki Sauce
Description
Teriyaki Sauce uses low sodium soy sauce, fresh garlic and ginger, brown sugar, honey, and toasted sesame oil to build a harmonious balance of salty, sweet, and aromatic flavors. The sauce simmers gently to marry these ingredients, then a corn starch mixture is added to thicken it, producing a silky texture that clings well to foods. This makes it ideal for glazing grilled meats, vegetables, or as a base for stir-fries. The preparation involves heating the mixture to boil the corn starch for 1-2 minutes until thickened. The sauce can be used immediately or refrigerated for up to a week, retaining its flavor and texture. Its straightforward ingredients and method allow home cooks to add an authentic touch to various dishes without complexity.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup soy sauce low sodium
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons garlic minced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger fresh, minced
- 1 tablespoon honey

- 1 tablespoon corn starch
Instructions
- Place the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, honey and sesame oil in a medium pan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer.
