Texas Roadhouse Honey Butter
Description
This recipe combines room temperature unsalted or salted butter whipped until fluffy with the gradual addition of honey and ground cinnamon. Using European butter enhances creaminess and flavor. The small amount of cinnamon introduces a gentle warmth without overpowering the honey’s sweetness. Whipping them together achieves a smooth and airy texture, making the honey butter spreadable and light.
Texas Roadhouse Honey Butter is commonly used as a spread for biscuits, toast, pancakes, waffles, and cornbread, lending a sweet buttery flavor. It also works well as a glaze on roasted vegetables and meats like baked ham, adding a subtle sweetness and glossy finish. This honey butter can be mixed into batters or frosting for moistness and flavor enhancement, and it’s delicious drizzled over popcorn or stirred into oatmeal.
Storage recommendations suggest refrigerating after a day at room temperature, keeping it covered in an airtight container to maintain freshness. It can also be frozen and thawed overnight in the refrigerator without loss of texture. If separation occurs, simply re-whip prior to use. Adjust salt by adding kosher salt if using unsalted butter to enhance taste.
Ingredients
- ½ cup butter room temperature (I used European butter for the best flavor) See notes, salted
- 3 tablespoons honey use local honey if you can!
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In the bowl of a stand mixer (or hand mixer) fitted with a whisk or paddle attachment; whip butter for 3-4 minutes on medium-high speed until light and fluffy.
- Then slowly drizzle in the honey with mixer on medium and add cinnamon, whipping an additional 1-2 minutes until incorporated and fluffy. Scraping sides if needed.
Notes
- Use European butter for a creamier and richer texture and flavor in the honey butter.
- If using unsalted butter, add about ¼ teaspoon kosher salt to balance the sweetness.
- Store honey butter in an airtight container; refrigerate after a day at room temperature and it will keep until the butter’s best-by date.
- Honey butter can be frozen and thawed slowly in the fridge without losing texture; re-whip if separation occurs.
- Enjoy as a spread on bread, glaze for meats or vegetables, or stir into batters and desserts for added moisture and flavor.
