Texas Roadhouse Roadkill
Description
This recipe replicates Texas Roadhouse's Roadkill by forming ground beef mixed with Worcestershire sauce, seasoning salt, and beaten egg into patties. After chilling, the patties are seared in butter to create a browned crust. The onion and mushroom mixture is sautéed separately in butter until soft and slightly browned, seasoned with salt and pepper. The sautéed vegetables top the patties before baking them for additional cooking and flavor melding.
Once baked through, shredded Monterey Jack cheese crowns each patty and melts under brief oven heat for a creamy finish. The combination delivers a juicy beef patty layered with buttery mushrooms and sweet onions, complemented by mild, melted cheese.
The recipe stores well, with leftovers refrigerated up to five days. It is straightforward to prepare and works well paired with sides like mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 1 egg beaten, large
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 onion sliced
- 1 Tablespoons butter
- 8 ounces mushroom sliced
- 6 ounces Monterey jack cheese shredded
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a large bowl, gently mix together the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning salt and egg. Do not over mix.
- Form the beef mixture into 4 patties. Refrigerate the patties while you prepare the other ingredients.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.
- Add the onions to the pan. Sauté for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Then stir in the sliced mushrooms. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
- Sauté for 3-4 more minutes until the onions and mushrooms are soft and start to brown. Remove the mixture from the pan to a separate plate.
- Then add the beef patties to the pan and brown each sides of the patties (2-3 minutes per side).
- Transfer the patties to a baking dish. Top each patty with the mushroom and onion mixture.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes until the patties are cooked through.
- Top each patty with the shredded Monterey Jack Cheese. Cook in the oven for 1-2 more minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the oven, serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
