Texas Toast Sloppy Joe's
Description
The recipe begins by preparing frozen Texas Toast garlic bread according to package instructions until golden and crisp. Ground beef is cooked in a skillet over medium-high heat, crumbled and browned, then excess grease is drained away. The beef is then simmered briefly with a mixture of brown sugar, yellow mustard, and ketchup, which forms a tangy, slightly sweet sloppy joe sauce.
This beef mixture is spooned onto the prepared garlic bread slices while still on a baking sheet. Shredded mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning are added on top. The assembled slices are then placed under a broiler for a few minutes until bubbly melted cheese and light browning develop.
The dish combines the crunch of garlicky toasted bread with the savory-sweet, cheesy beef topping, making a hearty sandwich option suitable for casual meals or gatherings.
Ingredients
- 8 lices Texas Toast Garlic Bread frozen
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/8 cup brown sugar
- 1/8 cup yellow mustard
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Prepare the Texas toast Garlic bread based on the package instructions on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- While the bread is cooking, place the ground beef in a large skillet and heat over medium high heat.
- Brown the beef and break it up while it cooks. Then drain any excess grease from the pan.
- Then return the pan back to the heat and stir in the brown sugar, mustard and ketchup. Stir well until combined and heat for a few minutes to incorporate the flavors. Then remove the pan from the heat.
- Spoon the sloppy Joe mixture onto the prepared garlic bread slices (keeping them on the baking sheet) and top each one with the shredded mozzarella cheese. Then sprinkle the Italian seasoning on top.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops have started to brown slightly.
- Remove, cool slightly and then they are ready to enjoy!
