Description
This board begins with a large platter, where crackers form the outer fan-shaped feathers. Overlapping rows of cheddar cheese slices, salami, Swiss cheese, and pepperoni fill inward layers, building texture and color variety. The center features cheddar shapes carved into a turkey body and head, accented with a Swiss cheese beak and chocolate chip eyes, completing the visual theme.
The arrangement balances savory flavors from the meats and cheeses with mild crunch from crackers, ideal for snacking at holiday parties. Due to the nature of perishable ingredients like cheeses and meats, it is best served fresh to maintain texture and appearance.
To prepare ahead, the board should be covered tightly with plastic wrap and kept refrigerated until serving, preventing the ingredients from drying out or losing shape.
Ingredients
- 40 Ritz crackers
- 5 oz cheddar cheese slices
- 4 oz salami slices
- 3 oz swiss cheese slices
- 3 oz pepperoni slices
- 2 chocolate chips
Instructions
- Start with a large serving platter. We used a circle serving platter but you can easily use a rectangle platter as well.
- Cut out the turkey body (oval) and head (circle) out of the cheddar cheese and cut a small triangle out of the Swiss cheese for the beak.
- Then assemble the tray. Start with the outside row of the turkey feathers. Arrange the crackers in a large half circle around the outer edge of the serving platter.
- Then arrange the cheddar cheese slices next to the crackers, overlapping them on top of the crackers. Then follow this same process with the salami slices, Swiss cheese slices and then the pepperoni slices. Make sure that the pepperoni slices fill in the rest of the space.
- Place the turkey body and head in the center of the pepperoni and top the head with the Swiss cheese beak and chocolate chip for the eyes.
Notes
- Serve this charcuterie board fresh to prevent cheeses and meats from drying.
- If preparing in advance, cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until just before serving.
