The Best Chopped Chinese Chicken Salad Recipe

This chopped Chinese chicken salad combines shredded cooked chicken with finely shredded Napa and red cabbage, carrots, scallions, and cilantro for a crisp, colorful base. A hoisin and rice vinegar dressing infused with ginger and toasted sesame oil adds a balance of sweet, tangy, and savory notes. Crunchy wonton strips and optional sesame seeds finish the salad, offering varied texture in every bite.

Description

The recipe’s dressing brings together canola oil, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, fresh grated ginger, and toasted sesame oil shaken until combined. This dressing marries sweet, acidic, and umami flavors that coat the shredded chicken and vegetable mix evenly. The combination of Napa and red cabbage provides a crisp, fresh foundation while carrots, scallions, and cilantro contribute brightness and herbal touches.

The fried wonton strips introduce a crunchy contrast to the tender chicken and shredded vegetables, with sesame seeds adding a subtle nutty accent when sprinkled on top. This salad works well as a light main dish or a side and can be refrigerated with the dressing separately for up to several days.
