The Best Easy London Broil Recipe

This London Broil recipe features top round or flank steak marinated with olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic, and fresh herbs like parsley, oregano, and thyme. The marinade tenderizes the meat for several hours before broiling it quickly under high heat, creating a nicely seared exterior with a flavorful, juicy interior. Resting the steak after broiling allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a tender slice. Cutting the steak at an angle enhances the texture and ease of eating.

Description

The Best Easy London Broil Recipe uses a top round or flank steak marinated in a mixture of olive oil, red wine vinegar, fresh garlic, and chopped herbs including parsley, oregano, and thyme. The marinade softens the meat and infuses subtle herbaceous and tangy flavors. After marinating for at least 30 minutes or preferably 3 hours, the steak is rinsed and dried, then seasoned with sea salt and black pepper. It is brought to room temperature before being seared in a very hot cast iron pan under a 500°F broiler for seven minutes per side, which develops a caramelized crust while keeping the meat inside tender.

The steak is allowed to rest for 10 minutes after broiling to let the juices redistribute. Slicing the beef thinly and angled against the grain ensures maximum tenderness. This method focuses on straightforward preparation and the flavor contrast between the tangy marinade and browned crust. It is a practical way to cook a lean cut of beef so it remains enjoyable and not tough.
