The Best Fattoush Salad

The Best Fattoush Salad is a vibrant Middle Eastern salad made with chopped romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, radishes, red onion, and toasted pita chips. It is dressed with a zesty vinaigrette featuring lemon juice, pomegranate molasses, garlic, sumac, dried mint, and olive oil, lending a refreshing, tangy flavor. The salad is finished with fresh mint and cracked black pepper for an aromatic and crisp texture.

Description

The Best Fattoush Salad uses fresh romaine lettuce cut into bite-size pieces combined with quartered cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced radishes, and red onions. Pita chips toasted until crisp add a crunchy contrast to the greens. The dressing is a blend of lemon juice and pomegranate molasses for acidity and sweetness, minced garlic, kosher salt, sumac, and dried mint, whisked together with olive oil to emulsify and coat the ingredients evenly.

This salad balances bright, tart, and herbal notes with varied textures, from crisp lettuce and radish to crunchy pita chips. The addition of fresh mint chiffonade adds a refreshing herbaceous quality, specialized by the sumac's distinctive lemony aroma. It is served tossed and dusted with extra sumac, dried and fresh mint, and freshly ground black pepper to enhance the layers of flavor.

Fattoush Salad complements Middle Eastern and Mediterranean meals, functioning well as a light starter, side dish, or a refreshing accompaniment to grilled foods. The pita chips provide an added crunch making the salad more substantial.
