The Best Mediterranean Salad Recipe
Description
This Mediterranean Salad recipe features sliced Persian cucumbers, chopped tomatoes, thinly sliced red onion, pitted kalamata olives, halved artichoke hearts, and chopped parsley. The dressing made from olive oil, lemon juice, sumac, garlic, salt, and pepper coats the ingredients lightly to enhance their natural flavors. The use of sumac adds a gentle tartness that complements the lemon juice and garlic.
The salad is mixed gently and chilled briefly before dressing to allow the flavors to meld and maintain the vegetables' crisp texture. It can be served immediately after adding the dressing, making it a convenient and fresh side dish.
This salad pairs well with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean main dishes such as Shish tawook, chicken, or beef kebabs, and also complements rice-based dishes like mujaddara or tomato rice.
Using marinated artichokes enriches the flavor, and pitted kalamata olives are recommended for ease of eating and taste balance.
