Three Broomsticks Butterbeer

This easy Butterbeer recipe will make you feel like you're in the Wizarding World! It has a rich homemade butterscotch sauce mixed with cream soda and topped with fresh whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 35 Werther’s caramels or candies , unwrapped
  • 1 ¼ cups apple cider
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 cups Cream Soda , (room temp for hot butterbeer, chilled for cold butterbeer)

Topping:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 Tablespoons powdered sugar
  • Butterscotch syrup , option, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Butterscotch sauce: Add apple cider, Werther’s caramel, allspice and cinnamon to a saucepan. Stir over medium heat until melted and smooth. Add extracts.
  2. For warm butterbeer: Add room temperature cream soda to the pot and cook until hot. Ladle into cups, top with whipped cream and drizzle of butterscotch syrup.
  3. For cold Butterbeer: Allow butterscotch mixture to cool completely, then ladle ¼ cup into a serving glass and top with 1 cup chilled cream soda. Top with whipped cream and drizzle of butterscotch syrup, if desired.

Notes

  • Yields 7 1/2 cups Butterbeer. Serving size: 1 1/4 cups.
  • Make Ahead Instructions: The butterscotch syrup can be made a few days in advance and kept in the fridge until ready to assemble and serve.
