Tikka Masala Meatballs

Tikka Masala Meatballs combine ground turkey mixed with oats, onion, egg, ginger, and garlic to form tender meatballs baked and then simmered in a spiced tikka masala sauce. The oats provide texture and absorb moisture, keeping the meatballs moist. The tikka masala sauce imparts a complex, aromatic curry flavor that complements the mild turkey, creating a flavorful protein-rich dish. The meatballs are finished with fresh cilantro and served commonly with basmati rice for a balanced meal.

Description

This dish starts by blending ground turkey with old fashioned oats, finely chopped onion, egg, ground ginger, and minced garlic to form meatballs with good binding and texture. Rolling the mixture into one-inch balls produces approximately 18 to 20 pieces. Baking them at 375°F gently cooks the meatballs, preserving moisture without overbrowning.

After baking, simmering the meatballs in ready-made tikka masala sauce allows them to absorb its fruity and spicy flavors, enriching the dish with warm Indian-inspired spices. The texture remains tender inside with a saucy coating. Fresh cilantro adds a herby aroma and color contrast when serving.

The meatballs pair well with fragrant basmati rice or grains like jasmine rice or quinoa for a complete meal. The recipe accommodates variations like using ground chicken or beef and substituting quick oats or breadcrumbs for texture differences.

Leftover meatballs and sauce reheat well and can be made ahead for convenience. Nutritional information excludes any accompanying grains.
