Tipili Recipe [Recipe + Video] Bulgur Salad
Description
The Tipili Recipe [Recipe + Video] Bulgur Salad centers on coarse bulgur wheat that is soaked in water to soften its texture before being mixed with fresh ingredients including diced tomato, chopped red onion, and a generous amount of parsley. Optional mint adds a subtle herbal aroma if desired. Olive oil and freshly squeezed lime juice dress the salad, alongside salt to taste, tying the flavors together. This preparation preserves the grain's slightly chewy nature, providing a satisfying bite balanced by the freshness of the vegetables and herbs.
The salad offers a pleasantly tangy and herbaceous flavor profile, with bulgur absorbing a hint of citrus from the lime, while the onion provides a mild pungency. Because it includes fresh, uncooked vegetables and herbs, the dish has a crisp texture in contrast to the tender bulgur. Serving the salad right after preparation prevents the parsley from wilting, maintaining its vibrant taste and texture.
Tipili works well as a refreshing side dish alongside grilled meats or as a light vegetarian option. Its combination of ingredients makes it suitable for warm weather meals or as part of a mezze platter. The bulgur base gives it some heartiness, while the lime and herbs keep it light and appetizing.
When preparing, it is important to soak the bulgur for at least two hours and squeeze out excess water to avoid a soggy salad. Mint, though optional, can be included according to personal preference. The coarse bulgur used is sometimes labeled as coarse bulgur wheat and may be found in Middle Eastern or Latino markets. Adjust salt levels based on taste.
