Tree Trimming Punch

Tree Trimming Punch is a festive mixed drink combining autumn syrup, orange juice, Grand Marnier, pomegranate soda, chilled Lambrusco wine, and club soda. Enhanced by slices of orange and optional colorful, fruit-filled ice cubes, it creates a refreshing, sparkling punch with layers of citrus, spice, and fruit flavors suited for holiday gatherings or celebratory occasions.

Description

This punch stands out with an autumn-flavored simple syrup made by simmering brown sugar with warm spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cardamom pods, and orange rind. The syrup is cooled then combined with freshly squeezed orange juice, orange liqueur, pomegranate soda for carbonation and sweetness, a chilled bottle of Lambrusco for fruity wine notes, and club soda to balance the flavors.

Serving the punch over ice cubes enhanced with cranberries, pomegranate seeds, and rosemary sprigs adds a decorative, seasonal touch. The mix offers a harmonious blend of spiced sweetness, bright citrus, and sparkling fruitiness that can be served immediately to add a festive element to social events.

autumn simple syrup

  1. Combine all ingredients together in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk constantly until the sugar dissolves and let simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely. You can store this in the fridge for a few days – I keep the spices and rind in the syrup for flavor, but remove right before using.
