Tuna Casserole

This Tuna Casserole combines egg noodles, canned tuna, frozen peas, cheddar cheese, and a cream of mushroom soup mixture topped with a buttery panko breadcrumb crust. Baked until bubbly and golden, it offers a creamy texture with a crisp topping. The casserole is a hearty, comforting dish suitable for a family meal.

Description

Tuna Casserole is a warm baked dish featuring cooked egg noodles mixed with diced onions, frozen peas, shredded cheddar cheese, and canned tuna. The mixture is combined with condensed cream of mushroom soup diluted with milk, which acts as a creamy binder throughout the casserole. This combination produces a hearty texture with tender noodles and bursts of peas and tuna.

The topping comprises panko breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter, which creates a golden, crunchy crust after baking at a relatively high temperature of 425°F for about 18 to 20 minutes. This contrast provides a pleasing texture difference from the creamy interior.

This casserole works well as a convenient, filling dinner dish, easily made ahead and baked when ready. It can be paired with a simple side salad to balance the richness.
