Tuna Dip
Description
The recipe blends canned tuna with softened cream cheese, finely chopped spring onions, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and seasoning. The lemon brightens the dip, while the mustard adds a subtle sharpness. Proper draining of tuna and cream cheese ensures the right consistency so the dip binds well without excess moisture.
This dip's flavor balances tuna's savory note with creamy and tangy elements, giving it a mild but distinctive taste. The texture is creamy with some bits of spring onion providing freshness and mild crunch.
Serving it cold allows the flavors to meld, and it pairs well with crackers or raw vegetables. This dip is a quick option for casual gatherings or snacks.
Ingredients
- 2 cans tuna (110 g each - 4 oz) or one large can of tuna
- ½ tub cream cheese 180 g, 6 oz a tub - 90 g, 3 oz for the recipe, soft
- 2 spring onions
- ½ lemon
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Chop the spring onions and add them to a bowl together with the flaked tuna, mustard, cream cheese and seasoning. Squeeze the lemon and mix well.
- Squeeze the lemon in and mix well.
- Serve the dip cold with crackers, toast, crostini or raw veggies.
Notes
- Drain canned tuna thoroughly to avoid a watery dip and preserve the cream cheese's binding effect.
- If using watery cream cheese, drain or pat it dry before mixing to maintain proper dip consistency.
