Tuna Pasta Salad
Description
Tuna Pasta Salad is prepared with small shell pasta cooked al dente and cooled before adding a mixture of canned albacore tuna, finely chopped celery, diced red onion, thawed peas, mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and dried dill weed. The combination creates a creamy yet textured salad where tender pasta and moist tuna contrast with crunchy vegetables and a mildly tangy dressing. The inclusion of lemon juice and dill adds brightness and herbaceous notes to the rich mayonnaise base.
The recipe suggests refrigerating the salad for at least an hour before serving, allowing the flavors to develop and meld, which enhances the overall balance. It’s suitable for preparing ahead of time and keeps well in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three to four days. When storing and serving, the salad should remain chilled to maintain freshness and safety due to its mayo base.
This salad pairs well as a light main dish during warmer months or as a side dish accompanying grilled meats or sandwiches. Adjusting the mayonnaise and lemon juice before serving can refresh the dressing if the salad dries out slightly after refrigeration.
