Tuna Pasta Salad
Description
This Tuna Pasta Salad starts with medium shell pasta cooked with salt and cooled under cold water to stop cooking and remove surface starch. Solid white albacore tuna is drained and combined with raw red onion, diced celery, and thawed frozen peas to provide a combination of textures from creamy to crisp and tender. The dressing emulsifies mayonnaise with fresh lemon juice, minced fresh dill for herbal notes, granulated sugar to balance acidity, Dijon mustard for tang and depth, and salt and black pepper for seasoning.
The dressing is mixed thoroughly and then folded into the pasta and tuna mixture, coating each ingredient evenly. Covering and chilling for at least one hour allows the flavors to develop and the salad to serve cool. This pasta salad works well as a side dish for picnics, potlucks, or casual lunches, offering a balanced combination of protein, vegetables, and carbohydrates.
