Turkey Chili
Description
Turkey Chili combines lean ground turkey sautéed with bell pepper, onion, and garlic, then seasoned with chili powder, ancho chili powder, cumin, paprika, and coriander. The addition of canned diced tomatoes with green chilies and tomato sauce creates a thick, flavorful base that simmers for 30 minutes to meld the flavors. Chicken broth adds moisture and a bit of depth to the sauce, while kidney beans provide texture and substance.
The end result is a warming chili that is savory with moderate spice from the chili powders and fresh vegetables adding sweetness and aroma. It can be garnished with cheddar cheese, sour cream, and green onions to enrich the taste and provide balance.
This chili works well for casual meals and can be adapted for slow cookers by transferring ingredients after an initial sauté and cooking low for several hours. Add-ins such as carrots, zucchini, or corn can increase vegetable content and alter texture subtly.
For slow cooker, sauté turkey and veggies first, then combine all ingredients and cook on low for 5 hours.Adding diced carrot or zucchini can boost vegetable content and flavor.Store toppings separately as they are not included in nutrition calculations.
