Turkey Meatloaf

This Turkey Meatloaf combines ground lean turkey with stuffing mix, milk, Parmesan cheese, and diced vegetables to create a moist, flavorful loaf. Seasoned with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper, the mixture is baked atop bread slices then topped with a glossy sauce of ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce for a balanced savory-sweet glaze.

Description

The recipe starts with mixing ground turkey with dry stuffing mix, milk, Parmesan cheese, diced onions and green pepper, an egg, and seasonings. The stuffing mix helps retain moisture and adds flavor. The loaf is formed on slices of bread placed on a baking sheet, which soak up juices from cooking and can be removed before serving.

The baking is done in two stages: first for 30 minutes uncovered, then topped with a sauce of ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce before returning to the oven to finish cooking and develop a flavorful glaze. Allowing the meatloaf to rest briefly before slicing helps juices redistribute. The loaf should reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure safety.

This approach balances lean turkey’s natural dryness with stuffing and sauce, making a hearty main dish suitable for an easy family dinner or meal prep. The glaze adds a tangy-sweet topping that complements the savory interior.

The bread base is optional but recommended for moisture; it can be served or discarded depending on preference. Adjust seasoning if using a different stuffing mix to maintain flavor.

  • 1 small green pepper diced
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper ground
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 lices bread

Instructions

  2. Combine turkey, stuffing mix, milk, Parmesan, onion, pepper, egg, salt, garlic powder, and pepper in a large bowl and mix well with your hands.
  3. Place two slices of bread on the bottom of a baking sheet. Spoon mixture onto the bread and shape it into a loaf.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes and remove from the oven for the sauce.
  5. In a small bowl, stir together the ketchup, sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Spoon over the meatloaf and return to the oven for 30 minutes or until loaf is cooked through.
  6. Let sit 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Remove the bread from the bottom of each slice of meatloaf before serving.

Notes

  • Stove Top Stuffing mix adds flavor and moisture; substituting may affect taste and texture, so adjust seasonings accordingly.
  • The bread base absorbs cooking liquids; it can be removed before serving or eaten with the meatloaf.
  • Ensure the meatloaf reaches 165°F internally before serving for food safety.
