Turkey Meatloaf
Description
The meatloaf combines 2 pounds of ground turkey with traditional dried herbs such as basil, oregano, and parsley, enhanced by salt and pepper for seasoning. Bread crumbs provide structure, while milk keeps the mixture moist. Worcestershire sauce is added for a subtle depth of flavor. It is shaped into a free-form loaf baked in a greased pan.
The glaze consists of ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar, and crushed red pepper flakes, creating a balance of sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy notes that coat the meatloaf. Half the glaze is brushed on before baking, and the other half is added later to ensure a glaze layer with caramelized edges after increasing baking temperature.
After baking, letting the meatloaf rest allows juices to redistribute, making slices firm and easier to cut. This dish suits a main course accompanied by sides such as vegetables or mashed potatoes.
