Tzatziki Sauce

Tzatziki Sauce is a Greek inspired, yogurt-based sauce you and your family will go crazy over.  It is creamy and bursting with light and refreshing cucumber, dill, and garlic flavors that will make this a Mediterranean inspired favorite this summer!

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 cups cucumber about 1 medium cucumber, finely grated
  • 2 cups yogurt plain, Greek
  • 2 ½ teaspoons garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dill dried
  • 1 teaspoon oregano dried
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste, ground
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice about half of 1 medium lemon, fresh
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. Wrap 2 cups finely grated cucumber in cheesecloth or a couple paper towels and squeeze it well to get rid of the excess moisture.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the squeezed cucumber, 2 cups plain greek yogurt, 2 ½ teaspoons minced garlic , 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar, 1 teaspoon dried dill, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, and 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice. Add salt and ground black pepper to taste.
  3. Drizzle 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil on top. Cover and chill in the refrigerator fo 30 minutes to let the flavors blend. Serve with fresh vegetables and pita bread.
