Ultimate Chicken Casserole
Description
Ultimate Chicken Casserole brings together shredded chicken and al dente egg noodles coated in a creamy mixture of milk and cream of chicken soup. Sautéed onion and garlic add aromatic depth, while cheddar cheese and crumbled cooked bacon provide richness and savory notes. The mixture is spread in a baking dish, topped with French fried onions for a crisp contrast.
The baking process melds flavors and results in a hot, bubbly casserole with a soft noodle and chicken interior complemented by a crunchy top layer. Seasonings of salt and pepper balance the richness without overwhelming the dish.
This casserole suits family dinners or potlucks where a hearty, filling dish is desired. Serving warm ensures the creamy texture and melted cheese remain appealing.
Notes indicate leftovers can be refrigerated in airtight containers for up to five days. The casserole can be assembled ahead except for the topping, which should be added just before baking to maintain crispness. Bringing the dish to room temperature before baking helps even cooking.
