Ultimate Turkey Salad
Description
The Ultimate Turkey Salad brings together diced cooked turkey with a creamy dressing base made from mayonnaise blended with Dijon mustard. The addition of pecans and dried cranberries introduces a mix of crunchy and chewy textures, complementing the tender turkey. Fresh vegetables like green onions and celery add a crisp, refreshing element, while parsley and dill contribute a subtle herbal flavor. Lemon juice brightens the overall taste and helps balance the creamy and nutty notes.
The salad is prepared simply by mixing all ingredients and chilling before serving. It works well spooned into sandwiches or wraps, or served alone as a protein-packed salad. The size of turkey pieces can be adjusted depending on whether the salad is eaten with a fork or used as a sandwich filling.
For best results, the skin should be removed from the turkey to ensure a consistent texture and avoid bits of skin in the salad. It is recommended to keep the salad chilled and consume within a few days to maintain freshness.
Ingredients
- 4 cups turkey diced meat
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- ½ cup pecans roughly chopped
- ½ cup cranberries dried, unsweetened
- 3 green onions sliced, green and white parts
- 2 celery diced, ribs
- 2 tablespoons parsley finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon dill finely chopped
- 1 lemon juiced (about 3 tablespoons)
- salt to taste, Kosher salt and freshly ground
- black pepper to taste, Kosher salt and freshly ground
Instructions
- Mix together. To a large mixing bowl, add the turkey, mayonnaise, mustard, pecans, cranberries, green onions, celery, parsley, dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until it's well combined.
- Chill and serve. Let it chill in the fridge until you're ready to serve.
Notes
- Adjust turkey dice size smaller for sandwiches or wraps, larger for eating as a salad with a fork.
- Remove turkey skin before dicing for a smooth texture without pieces of skin.
- Keep the salad refrigerated and avoid leaving it at room temperature over two hours.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 to 5 days.
