Upside Down Egg White Pizza

Upside Down Egg White Pizza layers seasoned fluffy egg whites over a base of crescent roll dough, baked until the whites set and the dough turns golden. It is finished with melted mozzarella cheese, producing a light, airy texture with a subtle ranch flavor. This savory bake can be served sliced like a pizza or casserole, suitable for breakfast, brunch, or a light meal.

Description

This Upside Down Egg White Pizza starts with a layer of crescent roll dough pressed evenly into a baking dish to form a crust. Whisked egg whites mixed with ranch seasoning are poured over the dough and baked until the whites are fully cooked and slightly puffed. The dish is then topped with shredded mozzarella cheese and returned to the oven briefly to melt the cheese.

The baking process results in a combination of a tender, flaky crescent roll crust beneath a firm, fluffy egg white topping with a mild, tangy ranch seasoning. The cheese adds a creamy texture and subtle richness without overwhelming the delicate egg whites. Baking the cheese on top rather than mixing it in preserves its melting quality.

This dish can be sliced and served as an alternative to traditional pizza or as a protein-packed breakfast or snack. Its mild flavors and combination of textures make it appealing for those looking for a lighter savory option.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 (8-oz.) crescent rolls I used reduced-fat but regular works too, can
  • 2.5 cup egg white, 600g
  • 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese low fat, shredded, 84g
  • 1 Tbsp ranch seasoning mix or 1 tsp of EACH: onion powder, garlic powder, salt and 1/4 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9x13" baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Open crescent rolls and place along the bottom of the dish. Press down to spread and even out along the bottom and part of the sides of the dish. Try to seal the seams as much as possible.
  3. In a medium sized bowl, add egg whites and ranch seasoning. Briefly whisk egg whites to mix in the season and to fluff them up. Alternatively, you can just shake egg white cartons to fluff the egg whites up and pour over top the crescent rolls, then sprinkle the ranch seasoning overtop.
  4. Pour egg whites over crescent rolls. Place in the oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until egg whites have fully cooked and crescent rolls are starting to golden brown.
  5. Take out, sprinkle with the shredded cheese and place back in the oven. Bake for a few more minutes just so the cheese can melt.
