  • 10-12 Heart Shaped Mini Waffles
  • strawberries cut into hearts
  • raspberries
  • blackberries
  • brie cut into hearts
  • 16 Maple Bacon Roses
  • honey
  • chocolate chips
  • Candy Conversation Hearts

Candied Bacon Roses Ingredients

  • 12 strips thick cut bacon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 TB brown sugar
  • pinch black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Place the conversation hearts and chocolate chips into heart-shaped ramekins. Make about 10-12 mini heart-shaped mini waffles with your favorite waffle recipe or store bought waffle mix. Use a heart cookie cutter to cut hearts out of a wheel of Brie cheese.
  2. Place the heart waffles down the center of the charcuterie board, forming an S shape.
  3. Position the heart ramekins with conversation hearts and chocolate chips on the charcuterie board, one in each curve of the waffle arrangement. Line the waffles with roses made from bacon.
  4. Fill in the remaining open spaces on the board with fresh fruit and the Brie hearts. Drizzle honey or maple syrup on top of the waffles, or serve on the side.

How to Make Bacon Roses

  1. Spread the bacon strips flat on a baking sheet.
  2. Whisk together the maple syrup, brown sugar, and black pepper. Spread on each strip of bacon on both sides.
  3. Take each strip of bacon and roll up into a rosette shape and secure with a toothpick.
  4. Place back on the baking sheet and bake for 30-45 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Check the bacon for doneness at 30 minutes - the bacon should be crispy on the edges and cooked through in the middle.
