Veggie Burger (That actually tastes GOOD)

This Veggie Burger combines sautéed mushrooms, olives, artichoke hearts, and peppers with mashed beans and chickpeas, seasoned with a blend of herbs and spices. Rolled oats, panko, and an egg bind the mixture, and shredded pepper jack cheese adds moisture and flavor. The patties are cooked until browned and hold together well, delivering a savory, hearty burger option with a variety of textures and a mildly spicy kick.

Description

The recipe starts by sautéing finely chopped mushrooms, olives, artichoke hearts, onion, red bell pepper, jalapeño, and garlic until soft and translucent. These vegetables add layers of flavor and moisture. The base uses mashed black beans, white beans, and chickpeas to provide protein and body. The vegetable mixture is combined with rolled oats, panko breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, and a mix of spices including oregano, paprika, celery salt, sage, and chili powder. The addition of a beaten egg and pepper jack cheese helps bind the ingredients and adds a creamy touch.

After forming the mixture into patties and chilling them, they are cooked in olive oil until browned on each side and cooked through. The result is a veggie burger with a satisfying texture and a balanced, savory flavor profile enhanced by the spicy and cheesy notes. These burgers can be served in buns or alongside salad for a complete meal.
