Waffle Iron Omelettes
Description
Waffle Iron Omelettes mix eggs with shredded cheddar cheese, cooked diced sausage, diced bell pepper, and yellow onion, seasoned with salt and pepper. The waffle iron is sprayed with nonstick spray and preheated on a low setting to ensure gentle cooking that keeps eggs tender and light.
The egg mixture is whisked vigorously to incorporate air, then poured into the hot waffle iron. Cooking times vary around two to three minutes, producing a firm yet fluffy omelette with evenly distributed fillings. The waffle iron’s ridges create a textured surface.
These omelettes can be garnished with fresh chives or green onions and served immediately. This method is efficient for making multiple omelettes with consistent texture and a tender crumb.
Ingredients
- 3 egg
- 1/8 cup cheddar cheese shredded
- 1 sausage cooked and diced, link
- 1 Tablespoon bell pepper dcied
- 1 Tablespoon yellow onion diced
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
- cooking spray nonstick
Instructions
- Coat top and bottom of the waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray and preheat- (I kept mine on the "min" setting, this left the eggs light and fluffy!)
- In a small bowl, crack the eggs and add the additional filling ingredients. Whisk vigorously, incorporating as much air as possible as you do so. Immediately add them to the waffle iron.
- Check on eggs after 2 minutes, cook for 1 additional minute if needed.
- Shut off heat and remove carefully with a fork. Garnish with chives or green onions if desired and enjoy!
