Waldorf Salad
Description
This traditional salad mixes fresh-cut apples and celery, along with grapes, which add bursts of juiciness. Toasted walnuts provide a crunchy texture contrast while optional raisins bring a touch of chewiness and sweetness. The dressing, a mixture of mayonnaise and granulated sugar, lightly coats the ingredients, balancing creaminess and sweetness.
The salad is assembled by tossing the fruit and vegetables, then folding in the dressing to evenly distribute flavor. It can be served chilled, offering refreshing crispness grounded by the rich dressing.
Waldorf Salad works well as a side dish for light lunches or picnics, complementing sandwiches or grilled meat dishes. It is also suited for buffet-style meals.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, stirring well before serving again to redistribute dressing.
