Walking Tacos

Walking Tacos are a fun, handheld dish where seasoned ground beef is mixed with typical taco toppings and served inside a bag of crushed potato chips, usually Fritos or Nacho Cheese Doritos. The combination offers a pleasing contrast between the crunchy chips and savory, juicy meat and toppings. This portable twist on tacos makes it easy to customize toppings and enjoy a casual meal or snack.

Description

Walking Tacos uses seasoned ground beef cooked with taco seasoning and water to create flavorful taco meat. This is served in individual sized bags of potato chips that have been crushed to provide a crunchy base. Typical toppings include shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, black olives, avocado or guacamole, chopped onion, salsa or pico de gallo, and sour cream. The fillings are layered on top of the crushed chips inside the bag, allowing the eater to mix the combination together before eating. This method keeps the dish portable and easy to eat without utensils.

The texture contrasts between the crisp chips and softened seasoned meat with juicy fresh toppings make Walking Tacos a casual and enjoyable dish. Suitable for informal gatherings or quick meals, it offers a versatile platform for a variety of toppings that can be adjusted for personal preference.

The recipe suggests arranging toppings on a serving board for ease of assembly and to add visual appeal through a variety of colors and textures. This serving style enhances the experience by allowing individuals to customize their tacos to taste.
