Watermelon Slushy
Description
The Watermelon Slushy recipe combines frozen watermelon cubes with lime juice, ginger ale, and granulated sugar. By blending these ingredients until smooth, it produces a chilled, fruity beverage with a subtle sparkle from the soda and a touch of tartness from the lime. The frozen watermelon provides a slushy texture that keeps the drink cold without diluting the flavor, making it a satisfying way to enjoy watermelon beyond just eating it fresh.
The inclusion of ginger ale adds a mild ginger note and effervescence that complements the watermelon and lime. This mixture is simple to prepare and can be served immediately with a wedge of lime for garnish.
Freezing watermelon cubes in advance is recommended for best texture and quick blending. Adjusting the amount of sugar and lime juice helps maintain balance, especially if adding extra ice that can dilute flavors.
Ingredients
- 8 cups watermelon frozen, cubes
- 2 cups ginger ale soda
- 2 whole lime juiced, about 1/4 cup
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Instructions
- In a blender, add in frozen watermelon cubes, lime juice, ginger ale and sugar.
- Blend on high until smooth
- Pour in glass and serve with a wedge of lime!
Notes
- Freeze watermelon cubes in a single layer on parchment-lined baking sheets before storing in a ziplock bag to prevent sticking; frozen cubes last up to three months.
- Add 1 to 2 cups of ice cubes when blending for a thicker slushy, but increase sugar and lime juice to avoid diluting the flavor.
