Wendy's Chili Recipe
Description
Ground beef is browned with diced celery and green bell pepper until the vegetables are tender and the meat is cooked through, with excess grease drained off. Pinto and kidney beans, canned diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and a blend of chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper are added to form the chili base. The mixture is brought to a boil, then simmered covered for about half an hour to integrate the flavors and thicken the stew.
The final chili delivers a balanced blend of savory beef, mildly spicy seasonings, and tender beans and vegetables. It is traditionally served with shredded cheddar cheese on top and accompanied by saltine crackers, emulating the fast-food style presentation.
Refrigeration is recommended for leftovers, which can be stored in airtight containers for up to a week, making this chili a reliable make-ahead meal option.
