Description
This recipe uses a hand mixer to whip heavy cream together with hot chocolate mix until thick and creamy, forming a light mousse-like topping. Milk is heated separately and poured into a glass before spooning the whipped topping on. Custom garnishes such as mini marshmallows, chocolate shavings, or sprinkles add sweetness and decoration. The texture contrast between warm, smooth milk and airy whipped chocolate provides a comforting hot drink experience.
The whipped topping can be prepared immediately before serving to maintain its volume and texture. - 2 Tbsp hot chocolate mix dry
- 5 Tbsp heavy cream
- 3 c. milk white or chocolate
Serving
- mini marshmallows

- mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, using a hand mixer mix together the hot chocolate mix and heavy cream until stiff and creamy.
- Heat milk in a saucepan or in a microwave safe container.
- Pour into glass then top with whipped hot chocolate.
- Garnish as desired with mini marshmallows, sprinkles etc.
Notes
- Unsweetened cocoa powder may be used instead of hot chocolate mix, but you will need to add granulated sugar when whipping the cream to achieve sweetness.
- The whipped chocolate cream topping is best prepared just before serving, as it is unclear how well it keeps when made ahead; traditional whipped cream is known to hold for 24 hours refrigerated but may release moisture.
