White Castle Sliders
Description
The recipe uses ground beef combined with Lipton onion soup mix, peanut butter, and milk to add flavor and moisture to the meat. The mixture is evenly spread onto a baking sheet and initially baked to set the meat. Diced onions are baked around the edges and then spooned over the top of the cooked meat to distribute onion flavor. Cheese slices are layered on top, then the dish bakes again until the cheese melts and the onions soften further.
The slider buns are added on top near the end of baking to warm and slightly toast them. The meat is then sliced into individual slider portions with a pizza cutter, maintaining the layered structure. Each slider is assembled by placing the meat and toppings with the warm bun bottoms and tops to create a hand-held sandwich.
Sliders can be personalized with popular toppings such as ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, dill pickle slices, lime pickles, or garlic powder and salt for seasoning. The recipe is designed for about twelve sliders but can be adjusted based on bun size and preferences.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 (2-ounce) packet soup mix 1 packet, Lipton brand
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- ½ cup milk
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 12 cheese Kraft or Velveeta cheese slices work great too, slices
- 12 slider roll I found mine in the bakery section of the grocery store. You may be able to fit more on depending on the size of the buns.
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Set aside a baking sheet.
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef. Lipton onion soup mix, peanut butter, and milk.
- Spread the meat mixture on the baking sheet. Use a rolling pin to roll over the meat to smooth it out. Bake for about 10 minutes. The meat will shrink. Put the diced onion all around the edges and bake 15 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, spoon the onions from the edges all over the top of the meat, and layer with cheese slices. Bake another 7 to 10 minutes or until cheese has melted.
- Add the tops of the rolls (the bottom part of the rolls will just sit on the counter.) Bake for about 5 more minutes.
- Remove from oven. Slice the meat into individual sliders with a pizza cutter. Pick up the slider meat and its top bun with a spatula and set it on the bottom bun.
Notes
- Slider bun sizes affect how many sliders the recipe yields; adjust meat portion accordingly.
- Toppings like ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, dill pickle slices, lime pickles, garlic powder, and salt enhance flavor and texture of sliders.
- Using pre-sliced processed cheese such as Kraft or Velveeta simplifies assembly and melting.
