White Rabbit Candy Ice Cream

White Rabbit Candy Ice Cream transforms the iconic creamy candy into a smooth, sweet frozen dessert. The recipe melts White Rabbit candies with milk, blends the mixture into whipped heavy cream, and then freezes it to create a rich and creamy ice cream. The candy's unique flavor infuses the ice cream with a distinct caramel-like sweetness reminiscent of the original treat.

Description

This ice cream leverages White Rabbit candies, known for their creamy, caramelized milk flavor wrapped in edible rice paper, as the base flavoring. The candies are melted gently with milk to create a smooth liquid, which is allowed to cool before being incorporated into whipped heavy cream. Whipping the cream contributes airiness and smooth texture, while careful mixing ensures an even distribution of the candy flavor. The mixture is then placed in a container, covered, and frozen for 6-8 hours, allowing it to set into ice cream.

The resulting ice cream is creamy and dense, exhibiting the characteristic sweet milkiness and subtle vanilla and caramel hints from the candies. The melting step requires attention to prevent overflow and to maintain a homogeneous mixture. The use of an electric mixer helps achieve the right cream consistency without overwhipping. This ice cream offers a novel way to enjoy White Rabbit candy beyond its original form.

This treat can be served as a unique dessert, enjoyed alone or with light toppings like nuts or fruit to complement its sweetness. Adjusting the number of candies can tailor the sweetness level according to preference.

Careful melting of the candies is crucial to avoid scorching or overflow. The candy mixture must be cooled before mixing with whipped cream to maintain texture. Storing the ice cream in the freezer for full setting time ensures the best texture, and using an electric hand mixer facilities achieving optimal cream thickness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 35 pieces White Rabbit candies (1 small bag 6.3 oz)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup milk (I used 2 %, you can use any milk)

Instructions

  1. Unwrap 35 pieces of White Rabbit candies (1 small bag 6.3 oz) and put them in the bowl. Don't worry about the thin rice paper, it is edible and will melt.
  2. After that, pour ½ cup of milk into the bowl with the candies. Then, put them in the microwave for around 1.5 minutes and until all the candies melt. (*I suggest putting it for 30 seconds, then stir and mix it. Repeat this step until the candy melts. Watch it very carefully because it may overflow.) Or, you can heat them up over the stove with a small fire until all the candies melt.
  3. Let the candy mixture cool off before adding it into the cream.
  4. In a mixing bowl, pour 1 cup of heavy whipping cream and use an electric hand mixer to whip the cream. Until the cream is thick, but don't over whip it.
  5. Next, add the melted candy mixture from step 3 into the whipped cream.
  6. Mix it well.
  7. Pour the mixture into a container and level it off. Cover it with a plastic wrap. Then, freeze it for at least 6-8 hours. The best result is to freeze it overnight.
  8. Then, unwrap the plastic wrap and scoop the ice cream out. The best is to wait for 1-2 minutes because it is easier to scoop it out.

Notes

  • Melt White Rabbit candies with milk in short increments, stirring frequently to prevent overflow and ensure even melting.
  • Allow the candy mixture to cool completely before folding it into whipped cream to preserve texture.
  • Whip the heavy cream just until thickened; overwhipping can affect the ice cream texture.
  • Freeze the mixture for at least 6-8 hours to achieve the proper set; longer freezing does not harm texture.
  • Adjust the amount of White Rabbit candies used to alter the sweetness level to taste.
