Whole Baked Duck Recipe (Extra Easy)
Description
The Whole Baked Duck Recipe (Extra Easy) uses simple ingredients like mayonnaise blended with garlic parsley salt as a rub to season the duck overnight. Stuffed with cooked buckwheat, the duck is baked surrounded by chopped apples, celery, and carrots which infuse subtle sweetness and moisture. The initial covered baking keeps the duck juicy, and removing the foil for the last 15 minutes crisps the skin to a golden finish. The apples and root vegetables soften during cooking, making a savory side to the rich, roasted duck. This method is straightforward yet yields a tender bird with balanced flavors.
To serve, carve the duck hot from the oven alongside the cooked vegetables and stuffing. The combination of fruity apples, earthy celery, and carrot adds complementary textures and tastes. This dish can work well for a special family meal or weekend dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 duck
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp garlic parsley salt
- 3 cups buckwheat cooked
- 2 apple
- 1 bunch celery
- 2 carrot
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise with the garlic parsley salt. Rub the mayo mixture all over the outside of the duck and place it in a baking dish. Cover it with plastic wrap and allow it to marinate in the fridge overnight.
- The next day, stuff the duck with cooked buckwheat. Wipe off mayo the mixture from the outside of the duck.
- Cut up the apples, carrots, and celery. Assemble them around the duck and season them with salt. Cover the baking dish with foil.
- Bake the duck for 90 minutes at 375°F. Remove the foil wrap for the last 15 minutes to allow the skin to crisp up. Serve right away while it's still hot and enjoy!
