Yum Yum Sauce
Description
This Yum Yum Sauce starts with melted butter cooled to prevent melting the mayonnaise when mixed. The sauce blends mayonnaise and ketchup to create a creamy, slightly sweet base, complemented by rice vinegar’s mild acidity and chili garlic hot sauce’s heat. Onion and garlic powders add savory depth, while paprika and white pepper provide mild spice and earthiness. A pinch of salt rounds out the flavors.
The sauce has a smooth, velvety texture that coats foods well. It works well as a dipping sauce, a drizzle over grilled meats, seafood, or vegetables, or as a tangy spread for sandwiches. The preparation is simple, requiring only whisking the ingredients together until uniform.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter melted
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon chili garlic hot sauce or sriracha
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- ⅛ tsp white pepper powder
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a medium bowl in the microwave (15-30 seconds should do it). Set aside to cool—this is important, or it may melt the mayonnaise.
- Once the butter is cool, add the remaining ingredients (the mayonnaise, ketchup, rice vinegar, chili garlic sauce/sriracha, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, paprika, and white pepper). Whisk together until smooth.
