Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
  2. In a small bowl, add the sugar and cinnamon and mix together.
  3. Wash the apples and dry them with a paper towel. Using an apple corer, core them and then cut into ½-inch thick slices.
  4. Place the apple slices in a large bowl and drizzle them with the melted butter and stir to coat evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the butter coated slices and toss again to coat well.
  6. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  7. Place the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket leaving space between each slice. (be careful not to overcrowd and cook in batches if necessary).
  8. Air fry for 5 minutes. Then flip them over and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes until they are golden brown and fork tender.
  9. Serve warm, either on their own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream or they make a great topping for yogurt or oatmeal too.

Notes

  • Use a different apple. For tart flavor like granny smith, use McIntosh Cortland. For sweeter flavors, use Honeycrisp or Gala Substitute with coconut oil for a different flavor. Swap the white sugar for brown sugar instead. Add other spices. A pinch of nutmeg, cloves, allspice, or even a dash of cardamom are all delicious. Leave the peel on the apples for more texture or peel them if you prefer.
