Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas
- 2 tablespoon honey (use more or less, if preferred)
- 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice (optional)
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon (plus some more to sprinkle on top of the bananas)
Instructions
- Peel and cut the bananas into halves.
- In a plate or bowl, combine honey, cinnamon, and the juice of a quarter of a lemon. Mix this with the bananas, gently tossing to combine. Feel free to use a pastry brush to spread the mixture, if you prefer.
- Place a piece of parchment paper or aluminum foil on the base of the air fryer basket or pot for the Ninja Foodi, making sure to poke a few holes in the tin foil or paper, so the air can freely circulate. This is totally optional, it only helps make cleaning easier, afterward. Feel free to use the air fryer basket directly.
- Lay the sliced banana pieces in a single layer on top of the aluminum foil, parchment paper, or directly in the basket, set the time to 375°F, and time for 5 minutes. Sprinkle some cinnamon on top, close the air fryer basket or lid, then air fry.
- Once the cooking time is over, flip the bananas and cook for a further 3 minutes, or until perfectly caramelized.
- Serve these air fryer bananas warm with a scoop of ice, chopped ice,or your favorite toppings!
Notes
- there is no need to pre-heat your air fryer.
- feel free to use your favorite banana seasonings, such as nutmeg and pumpkin pie spice.
- you can use this recipe for any type of ripe yellow and slightly firm bananas. Do not use over-ripe bananas; they should be ripe, but still yellow in color.
- there is no right way to cut your bananas, so feel free to use your creativity.
- if you choose to place aluminum foil at the bottom of your air fryer for easy cleanup, make sure to poke holes in it so it doesn't affect the circulation of air. You can also place the bananas directly in the basket (use some oil to grease the basket).
