Description
This recipe uses about one pound of chicken wings divided into flats and drummettes. They are thoroughly dried and lightly coated with olive oil, then seasoned with garlic salt and lemon pepper to enhance flavor. After seasoning, the wings are arranged in a single layer in the air fryer basket to allow hot air circulation.
Cooking takes place at 400°F for a total of 16 minutes, flipping the wings after the first 8 minutes to crisp both sides evenly. The result is wings with a crisp golden exterior and tender meat inside, without the use of deep frying.
These wings can serve as an appetizer or a protein-rich snack, and the recipe allows for seasonings to be adjusted to taste. The size of the air fryer basket may require cooking in batches, or a longer time if doubling the quantity.
Adjust the seasoning amount if a saltier skin is preferred, and when doubling, cook in batches or extend cooking time to 18-22 minutes, flipping once.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken wings split into flats and drummettes
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic salt or add to taste*
- 1 tsp lemon pepper
Instructions
- Thoroughly pat dry chicken wings with paper towels and place in a mixing bowl.
- Coat in 1 Tbsp oil then sprinkle on 2 tsp garlic salt and 1 tsp lemon pepper. Toss to evenly coat with seasoning.
- Place on air frying basket, spacing evenly and air fry at 400˚F for 8 minutes, then flip and air fry another 8 minutes for a total of 16 minutes, or until chicken wings are crisp and golden brown on the outside.
Notes
- Pat wings completely dry before seasoning to help skin crisp during cooking.
- Adjust garlic salt amount to taste; use 1 1/2 teaspoons for saltier skin or substitute with salt and garlic powder combination.
- If doubling the recipe, cook wings in batches to maintain a single layer, or extend cooking time to 18-22 minutes while flipping halfway.
